Studio

Where it is: Side menu → Studio

Studio is the screen in front of you during the stream: what's going out, the scenes to switch between, the buttons to stream and record, and the audio mixer. Every block can be moved and widened to your liking.

What is each block on the Studio screen?

  • Preview: what's going out live. With the dual canvas there are two, the 16:9 and the vertical 9:16.
  • Scenes: your scenes as cards to switch with one click, the eye to hide the preview, the dual canvas and Edit (which opens the Scenes screen).
  • Multistream: which networks you'll stream to, with their status, and the Start streaming, Save clip, Virtual camera and Multichat buttons.
  • Encoding and recording: the capture status, the recording quality (⚙ gear) and Start recording.
  • Audio mixer: the mic and speaker channels with their volume.

What is the dual canvas and when should I use it?

With the Dual canvas every scene has two layouts at once: a horizontal 16:9 one (for Twitch, Kick and YouTube) and a vertical 9:16 one (for TikTok and YouTube Shorts). Each platform gets its own in the same stream.

Turn it on with the Dual canvas button on the Scenes card. If you only stream in one orientation, leave it off: it uses half the computer.

Important: Streaming or recording both orientations at once means two 1080p encodes per frame. On tight computers fps can drop.

Why hide the preview? Why don't I see the real fps?

With the eye on the Scenes card you hide the preview to save resources while streaming. The stream and the recording stay the same.

The Studio and Scenes preview lowers its own quality so it doesn't use more than needed, so you don't see the real fps: what you record and stream goes out at full quality.

Tip: On tight computers, also turn on Settings → Preferences → Preview saver mode: the preview runs at half resolution.

How do I switch scenes mid-stream?

Press the scene's card in the Scenes block: it switches instantly on every network. If you have many, group them into projects with the dropdown at the top (for example “Games”, “Just chatting”).

You can also switch them from your phone with the Stream Deck.

How do I go live? What does the “Stream” dialog ask?

Once your destinations are ready in Livestreaming:

  1. 1Press Start streaming in the Multistream block.
  2. 2In How do you want to stream? check each network and its orientation. Whatever you change is saved in the destination.
  3. 3Write the title and pick the category (game). On Twitch, Kick and YouTube they're sent automatically; if a network doesn't allow it, Studio lets you copy it.
  4. 4On YouTube, the ⚙ gear opens more settings: description, thumbnail, privacy… See YouTube.
  5. 5While you're live, your channel shows on the StreamPack home page (only its name, its picture and how long you've been live).
  6. 6Press ⇗ Start streaming.

Tip: If something's missing (server, key, account not connected), the dialog tells you at the top before letting you go live.

How do I end the stream?

Press ◼ Stop streaming (it shows how long you've been live). Every network stops at once.

On YouTube, if you turned on End the YouTube stream when pressing “Stop”, the YouTube stream also ends; otherwise YouTube ends it by itself once it stops getting signal.

How do I save a clip of what just happened?

Press Save clip in the Multistream block: it saves the last few seconds to Recordings, without stopping anything. It works while the capture is running.

How many seconds are saved is set in Settings → Preferences → Clip duration. The cut can end up about 2 seconds longer because it starts at the nearest keyframe.

What is the virtual camera and how do I use it in Zoom, Discord, Meet, Teams or OBS?

It turns your scene into one more webcam on the computer. Press Virtual camera, turn it on and in the other app pick “StreamPack Studio Camera” as the camera. It has no audio.

You can send the 16:9 canvas, the vertical one or both at once: they show up as two cameras, “StreamPack Studio Camera” (16:9) and “StreamPack Studio Camera (vertical)” (9:16).

  • Compatible method (recommended): seen by Zoom, Discord, Meet, Teams, OBS and almost any app.
  • Windows 11 native: Windows 11's own; seen by the Camera app, Edge and OBS, but Zoom or Discord might not see it.
  • Fps and size: Zoom, Meet, Discord and Teams use 30 fps at most; 60 only helps with apps like OBS and costs twice as much. 720p uses less.

How do I open the multichat? What does “Lock” do?

Turn on the Multichat switch in the Multistream block: a window of its own opens with the chat of all your networks together. You can move it, resize it and put it over the game, and it keeps working with Studio minimized.

Lock lets clicks go through the window so you can use what's behind it (for example, playing with the chat on top). Unlock makes it clickable again.

How to reply and moderate: see Multichat.

What does each figure in “Encoding and recording” mean?

  • Capture: whether Studio is capturing the scene (it has to be active to record or stream).
  • Canvas: the scene's resolution and fps.
  • Bitrate: the megabits per second the recording uses.
  • Audio: the sound format (AAC) and its quality.

The ⚙ gear opens the recording quality and the folder button opens where recordings are saved. See Recordings.

How does the audio mixer work?

Each channel (mic, speaker…) has its meter, its volume, Mute, its Settings and Remove. With + Add channel you add another device, and with Monitoring you choose whether you hear yourself.

Outputs (speakers, headphones) are captured in loopback: you hear whatever plays through them without the game noticing.

Tip: If you unplug a mic mid-stream, its channel goes silent but it doesn't cut the mix: the stream goes on.

Can I move and enlarge the blocks? How do I go back to how it was?

Yes. When you hover over a block a pill appears at the top centre: drag it to move the block. To widen it, pull its bottom corners. The height adjusts to the content by itself (and previews keep their proportions).

It only changes how you see Studio: what goes out live isn't touched. It stays saved on your computer.

To go back to the usual layout: Settings → Preferences → Studio layout → Reset to the default layout.
